2015’s Best Web Design Trends

2015 is about to end and we’re ready to close another chapter in web design as we await the coming of 2016. Some web designers look to the current trends in web design with plans to do something completely different for the coming year in an effort to be different. But others will look back to the year that was and decide which web design trends worked, and which didn’t.
While new designs will undoubtedly become a hit, experts believe that some of this year’s major web design trends will stay around for a while. And the reason is simple — people like them.

Mobile-friendly design.
Just about every article on web design will mention the importance of having a website that looks and works great on mobile gadgets. That’s because back in 2014, mobile Internet users actually overtook desktop PC users for the first time. And now, mobile e-commerce has exploded to the tune of about $104 billion. That’s a very large piece of the pie so before you decide to abandon the mobile friendly design, ask yourself: are you sure you don’t want a slice of that pie?
Almost half of all users say that a business website that doesn’t have a mobile design is a sure sign that the business doesn’t care about their customers. So if you’re not yet on the gravy-train, then it’s time to get on board. With today’s busy lifestyle, people want and need to do their Internet browsing on the go, so if your website doesn’t fit the small screen of a smart phone then you are missing out on potential customers. What’s more, Google likes mobile-friendly websites, so it also helps with your website’s Search Engine results placement.

Minimalist design.
We have the Flat design and Material Design from Google, and while they have their differences they do have one thing in common — both are minimalist in design. It’s very clean with few elements so it loads quickly, the typography is simple for easy readability, and the colours are vibrant to attract interest.
This minimalist concept is also evident in how websites are cutting back on the number of links and pages. Now scrolling has become more standard, and that’s thanks to Facebook’s ubiquitous presence online. While some experts do say that the scrolling design has its own drawbacks, clicking on too many links may also prove too complicated for others.
In any case, the main point of the minimalist design is to help visitors focus on the content.

Personalised design.
This is a feature in some designs that allows visitors to comeback to a website and return to where they left off. By tracking the activities of a user, a business website can build a customer profile that helps it offer them more precisely targeted content experience. For example, if a customer spends a lot of time looking at large screen TVs on an e-commerce site, then it can remind the visitor of the web pages they’ve already visited on that specific website. Then it can also offer suggestions regarding other TV models that are similar to that which they have been looking at.

These are the web design trends of 2015 that are not only popular but are also very effective. So while you may want to try something new for the coming year, consider using tried and tested designs instead.
