Harbour Studios are proud to announce the launch of the Laurence Wood website. Laurence is a Hong Kong based artist and this site primarily showcases his portfolio of work.
In addition this is an e-commerce site where prints can be purchased. and also a great example of a mobile responsive website.
Laurence’s creative work is usually sparked by exploring aspects of particular places that engage him. These places are greatly contrasting, found within urban or industrial ‘edgelands’, landscaped gardens, fishing ponds, or inside the home or studio. They initiate the work but don’t necessarily guide it entirely. Once a work is underway other visual, emotional, intellectual, physical and psychological elements make a contribution. You will also see that there are particular approaches to painting that ebb and flow within his work, sometimes fusing, sometimes competing, such as expressionistic gesture and figurative depiction, three dimensional illusion and picture plane flatness. Some work is spontaneous and rapid whilst others are ‘stretched’ over time, accumulations of layers of thoughts, observations, reflections and adjustments. The works on the website are grouped according to the key places where Laurence has had a studio or produced work.
